SMEs are the main driver of the economy of a country. For this reason, since 2010 in Serbia runs mentoring program for this type of company, that included 523 users across Serbia, to the beginning of last year. Mentoring support in 2015 received 98 beneficiaries (87 companies and 11 clusters). The program is implemented by the Development Agency of Serbia (former National Agency for Regional Development) in cooperation with the Government of Japan through Japanske International Cooperation Agency - JICA. Accordingly, on February 24 in Belgrade were declared the best mentors in 2015.

In accordance with the adopted Action Plan for Employment of City of Belgrade for 2016, the Council for Employment implemented in cooperation with the National Employment Service, Belgrade Chamber of Commerce, the Regional Agency for Development and European Integration of Belgrade, City Center for Social Entrepreneurship Belgrade, Fund for development, the Agency for export insurance and financing of Serbia, education through organized workshop to as many interested citizens provide free elementary knowledge on the subject of starting a own business.

Improving employment in Belgrade through an approach based on the specific needs of citizens is the basis of the Action Plan for Employment of the city of Belgrade in 2016.

SMEs in seven countries of South Eastern Europe (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Moldova, Romania and Serbia) will make an easier access to risk capital thanks to Innovfin warranty, a credit instrument of the EU within the Horizon 2020. The agreement, signed today by the European investment Fund (EIF) and the German banking group ProCredit, will allow to banks to enter into new credit agreements with SMEs and medium market capitalization companies in amount of 250 million Euros in the next two years.

The aim of the project call Clusters Excellence program is empowerment of clusters management in order to enable professional business services to European SMEs. In order to achieve excellence in the management of clusters, clusters need to provide support to its members and to develop a strategic approach to the development of innovation, growth and the challenges of globalization faced by SMEs.
