Improving employment in Belgrade

Improving employment in Belgrade through an approach based on the specific needs of citizens is the basis of the Action Plan for Employment of the city of Belgrade in 2016.

In order to achieve increased employment basic goals of developing local employment policy in 2016 are set, which is to increase employment and reduce unemployment through the improvement of labor market institutions and access to new markets, employment mediation and career guidance, increasing the competence of the workforce through additional education and training, promotion of employment and business through subsidies, as well as support the development of entrepreneurship and small and medium-sized enterprises.

Active labor market measures and other planned program activities for the promotion of employment, in accordance with established competencies, implemented by the Ministry of Labor, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs, National Employment Service, local authorities - City of Belgrade (Secretariat for  the Economics and Management of agriculture, Department of Finance, Department for education and child protection) and other organizations and institutions in accordance with this document: Youth Office and cooperation with associations, City center for social entrepreneurship Belgrade, Regional Agency for Development and European Integration Belgrade, Belgrade Chamber of Commerce, Directorate for City Building land and Development of Belgrade, Development Fund of the Republic of Serbia.

In 2016, the City of Belgrade, in accordance with the set priorities and goals, as well as the available financial resources, decided to fund the following measures and activities of support for employment and self-employment:

  • Belgrade employment Fair;
  • Belgrade professional orientation Fair;
  • Women's entrepreneurship Fair;
  • Micro and family businesses Fair;
  • Belgrade investment days:
  • Bg practice;
  • promotion of entrepreneurial spirit among young people in primary and secondary schools and colleges;
  • School of social entrepreneurship "Entrepreneur is me";
  • Training for organic production for beekeepers;
  • Training for the categorization of private accommodation within the Tourism fair;
  • The Sevelopment of professional competencies in the SME sector;
  • Mentoring program;
  • Support to development and growth of start-up companies;
  • Employment subsidies for newly created jobs;
  • Subsidies for the development of women's entrepreneurship;
  • Granting incentives in the field of vegetable growing, fruit growing and beekeeping;
  • Awarding grants to voluntary and non-governmental non-profit organizations for co-financing program
  • Allocation of office space owned by the City to lease on favorable terms;
  • Business meetings between Belgrade’s and businessmens of the region;
  • Loans / guarantees for micro / small, medium and large legal entities and start up loans.

 

These measures will support the employment of unemployed persons, and in the category of less employable persons, such as young people under 30 years of age, redundant workers, unemployed older than 50 years, unemployed with no qualifications, low-skilled and long-term unemployed, people with disabilities, Roma and victims of domestic violence.

In addition to these, in 2016 will be realized also other measures and activities for the promotion of employment conducted by the National Employment Service in accordance with its program orientation and the available financial resources, as well as other organizations and institutions in accordance with established competencies.
